Code, the **Code** tab, is paid for with credits. It is not locked to one plan: Free, Plus, Pro, Pro 2×, Ultra, Ultra 2× and Business accounts can all use it. There is no separate Code allowance and no daily cap on runs, so what changes from plan to plan is how many credits you have and, on Free, which models you can pick. In a Business workspace, Code uses the workspace's pooled credits.

## Where Code is available

Code is in the web and desktop apps. On the web it always runs in the cloud. In the desktop app it can run on your computer, in a new local worktree or in the cloud. The mode switch in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps offers only Chat and Work. See [Chat, Work and Code in ZeroTwo](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001275-chat-work-and-code-in-zerotwo) for how to switch modes.

## How Code is billed

Code follows the same plan rules as Work. Each run draws from your credit balance, except for the included models described below. ZeroTwo spends monthly credits first, then bonus credits, then purchased credits. For how credits are earned and bought, see [How do credits work in ZeroTwo?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/12642688-how-do-credits-work-in-zerotwo)

| Plan | What the plan card lists for Code | Monthly credits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Plus | "Access to code agent" | 1,650 |
| Pro | "Access to ZeroCode" | 3,500 |
| Pro 2× | "Access to ZeroCode" | 7,000 |
| Ultra | "Access to ZeroCode" | 14,000 |
| Ultra 2× | "Access to ZeroCode" | 28,000 |
| Business | Code is not listed on the card. Runs draw on the workspace's pooled credits. | 4,000 per seat, pooled |

"ZeroCode" is the plan cards' name for Code, and the Plus card calls it "code agent". A Legacy subscription does not include Work, and Code follows the same plan rules as Work.

### Models that use no credits

On Plus and higher personal plans, some fast models use no model credits in interactive Code runs, while paid tools and media in those runs still use credits. In the model picker, hover the coin icon on a model to see its estimated credit cost. The icon appears only on models that use credits on your plan. Runs in a Business workspace are always charged to the pooled credits.

## Using Code on a Free account

A Free account can use Code too. It pays in credits like every other plan, and its credits come from the 100 welcome credits and 20 more for each day you log in. Until you buy credits, you can pick only Auto and a short list of models in Code, and the other models are greyed out. Having purchased credits removes that limit. The limit does not apply when you work in an organization workspace. ## Use your own ChatGPT plan in the desktop app

The desktop app can run Code with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan that you already pay for. ChatGPT is a separate service from ZeroTwo. The Providers page says that inference runs on this computer and is billed to your own provider account, and that your credentials stay on the device and are never sent to ZeroTwo. Model usage on a connected plan does not use your ZeroTwo credits.

1. Open **Settings** and choose **Providers**. This tab is in the desktop app only.
2. On the **ChatGPT** row, which reads "ChatGPT Plus / Pro", select **Connect**.
3. Your browser opens a sign-in page and ZeroTwo shows a code. Enter the code there to authorize.
4. When the row shows **Connected**, open the model picker in a Code chat. The models from your ChatGPT plan that work in Code are marked with a **Subscription** badge. Choose one.

Paid tools and media in a run on your own plan can still use ZeroTwo credits. A Free account does not need purchased credits to use a connected ChatGPT plan in Work and Code, and the short model list does not apply to it, but it still needs some ZeroTwo credits left to start a run. Select **Disconnect** on the row to remove the connection. The Providers page also lists other services, such as Claude and Grok Build.
