ZeroTwo has two Outlook connectors, **Outlook Email** and **Outlook Calendar**. They are separate: connect the ones you need, and connecting one does not connect the other. Both sign in with your Microsoft account.

## Connect Outlook

1. Open **Customize > Connectors** and search for "Outlook".
2. Select **Connect** on **Outlook Email**, **Outlook Calendar** or both.
3. In the dialog titled "Use Outlook Email in ZeroTwo" (or "Use Outlook Calendar in ZeroTwo"), select **Connect**, then sign in with Microsoft and approve the request.
4. You return to ZeroTwo, and the connector appears under **Installed**.

To make sure ZeroTwo uses an Outlook connector in a chat, mention it by typing `@Outlook Email` or `@Outlook Calendar` in your message.

## Permissions ZeroTwo asks Microsoft for

| Connector | Microsoft permissions requested |
| --- | --- |
| Outlook Email | `User.Read`, `Mail.Read`, `Mail.ReadWrite`, `Mail.Send`, `Mail.Read.Shared`, `Mail.ReadWrite.Shared`, `Mail.Send.Shared`, `MailboxSettings.ReadWrite`, `offline_access` |
| Outlook Calendar | `User.Read`, `MailboxSettings.Read`, `Calendars.Read`, `Calendars.ReadWrite`, `Calendars.ReadWrite.Shared`, `offline_access` |

These include write access, so ZeroTwo's tools can send mail and change events, not only read them.

## What Outlook Email can do

- **Find and read:** list, search and open messages (including several at once), recent email, attachments, mail folders and categories.
- **Write:** create drafts, reply drafts and forward drafts, reply, forward, send, schedule a message to send later, and add attachments.
- **Organize:** mark messages read or unread, move them, set categories, and create folders and categories.
- **Unsubscribe:** check a message's unsubscribe information and unsubscribe through a `mailto:` address.
- **Shared mailboxes:** list folders and messages in a shared mailbox, mark or move its mail, and send on behalf of it.

## What Outlook Calendar can do

- **Look:** list your calendars, list and search events, open one event or several, and see recurring series and their instances.
- **Plan:** find available time slots, check schedules, and read your mailbox settings.
- **Change:** create, update, cancel or delete events, respond to invitations, and add attachments to events.
- **Shared calendars:** create, update, respond to, cancel or attach files to events on shared calendars.

## Add the Outlook plugins

For guided workflows, install **Outlook Email** and **Outlook Calendar** from **Customize > Plugins**.

- **Outlook Email** adds skills for inbox triage, reply drafting, shared mailboxes, subscription cleanup and task extraction. It suggests prompts such as "Triage my inbox and surface the most urgent threads." and "Extract all action items from today's emails."
- **Outlook Calendar** adds skills for a daily brief, freeing up time, group scheduling, meeting prep and shared calendars. It suggests prompts such as "Give me a brief for today's meetings and any prep I need." and "Find a free 30-minute slot for a call with this person next week."

## Stay in control of sending and scheduling

The Outlook Email plugin's built-in instructions tell ZeroTwo to:

- write a draft when you ask for a reply but do not say to send it;
- before sending, check whether the reply depends on facts you have not given, and if it does, ask a short confirmation question or show a draft with the facts that still need confirming;
- repeat the exact send time and time zone before it schedules a message;
- send, schedule, move, archive or delete mail only when you clearly ask; and
- write drafts, replies and scheduled or sent messages as plain text only, with no formatting.

These are instructions, not locks. For a hard stop, open Outlook Email or Outlook Calendar under Installed and set the sending, scheduling and deleting tools to **Needs approval** or **Blocked**; check both tool groups, because ZeroTwo sorts the tools into read-only and write/delete groups automatically. See [Control what ZeroTwo can do in a connected app](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001495-control-what-zerotwo-can-do-in-a-connected-app).

The shared-mailbox and shared-calendar skills are meant for when you explicitly ask to work with a shared mailbox or calendar.

## If something is not working

- A "Connection issue" on either connector means you need to sign in again: open it under Installed and select **Connect**.
- If expected tools are missing, choose **Refresh tools** in the connector's **More options** menu.
- To stop using a connector, switch it off in **Settings > Plugins > Connectors** or choose **Disconnect** from its page.
