# Making Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files with Work

In Work mode, ZeroTwo can build and edit office files for you: Word documents, spreadsheets, PowerPoint decks and PDFs. It does this with four built-in plugins, **Documents**, **Spreadsheets**, **Presentations** and **PDF**, which are always on, so there is nothing to install first.

## What Work can make

| Plugin | Files | What it does |

| **Documents** | .docx (Word) | Drafts, edits, redlines and comments on documents such as memos, reports and proposals. |
| **Spreadsheets** | .xlsx, .xls, .csv, .tsv | Creates and changes workbooks with formulas, formatting, tables and charts, and analyzes the data in them. |
| **Presentations** | .pptx (PowerPoint) | Reads, creates and edits slide decks. |
| **PDF** | .pdf | Reads, creates, inspects and renders PDFs, including fillable forms. |

## Create a file

1. Start a new chat and choose the **Work** tab in the Mode strip at the top.
2. Describe what you need, for example "Turn these notes into a two-page project proposal as a Word document". Attach source material with **+** then **Files and folders**, or **Add from library** for a file you have already saved.
3. Answer any questions Work asks. For new documents and decks it can ask before it starts when a missing detail would change the result.
4. When it finishes, open the file from **Outputs** in the side panel.

You can also start from the side panel. Until a Work chat has produced anything, its **Outputs** section shows a row labeled "Create a file or site" and a **+** button that open the same menu: **Create document**, **Create presentation**, **Create spreadsheet** and **Create site**. Picking one puts a starter message in the message box without sending it, so you can add detail first.

## Edit a file you already have

Attach the file, then say what to change. Work can edit a Word document in place, redline it, or add comments, and it can revise existing spreadsheets and decks. To check its work, Work renders the pages of Word documents and PDFs and looks at them before it hands the file back.

## Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

Connect **Google Drive** under **Customize**, in the Connectors list, and Work can search your Drive and work with Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides directly. The Presentations plugin also covers Google Slides decks, and the Spreadsheets plugin covers Google Sheets.

## Things to know

- Work builds and edits the files themselves. The Spreadsheets plugin is not meant for controlling the Microsoft Excel app or a live Excel session.
- Work is a mode in the web, desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android apps, and Work runs use credits. See [Chat, Work and Code in ZeroTwo](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001275-chat-work-and-code-in-zerotwo) for how Work is set up.
- Files appear under **Outputs** when Work's answer refers to them. If a file you expected is missing, ask Work to present it again.
