A Site is a website that ZeroTwo builds from your description and hosts for you at an address that ends in `zerotwo.site`. You describe the site in a chat, ZeroTwo builds and previews it, and then deploys it. A new Site is private: only you can open it until you change who has access.

## Create a Site

1. In the web or desktop app, select **More** in the rail and choose **Sites**. You can also open **Spaces** and choose **Sites** in its sidebar.
2. Select **Create Site**. ZeroTwo opens a new chat with the Sites plugin attached and the text "Create a website that..." in the message box. Nothing is sent yet. On the web the chat opens in **Work**. In the desktop app it opens in **Code**.
3. Finish the sentence and send it. Say what the site is for, who will use it and what it should contain. You do not choose technical add-ons: ZeroTwo adds a database or file storage when your request needs one.
4. Once a first working version exists, a preview opens in a tab titled **Live preview** beside the chat. When the build is finished, ZeroTwo deploys the Site and ends its reply with a card that shows the Site's name and who can reach it, **Restricted access** or **Anyone with the link**. Select the card to open the Site in a tab.

The first time you select **Create Site**, ZeroTwo installs the Sites plugin for you. If that fails, a message says the plugin could not be installed and that you can continue without it. For how plugins work in general, see [Add, use and manage plugins in ZeroTwo](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001256-add-use-and-manage-plugins-in-zerotwo), and for the modes, see [Chat, Work and Code in ZeroTwo](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001275-chat-work-and-code-in-zerotwo).

## Deploy, publish and change a Site

ZeroTwo deploys a finished build by default, and it deploys again after later edits unless you ask for local-only work, for saving without deploying, or for no publishing. A new Site is deployed privately, so only you can open it, and the Sites list marks it **Unpublished**. Making a Site reachable by other people is a separate step. ZeroTwo asks you to **Allow** or **Deny** each time it would publish a version to everyone who can already reach the Site, or change who can reach the Site. See [What am I responsible for as a ZeroTwo Site owner?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001337-what-am-i-responsible-for-as-a-zerotwo-site-owner)

To change a Site, reopen its chat and describe the change. Select a Site's row in the Sites list to reopen the chat that built it. A Site that has no chat behind it opens in a new chat that starts with "make these changes...".

## The Sites list

The Sites page lists your Sites with their last-updated date. Use **Search sites** to find one by name, address or hostname, and switch between **Grid view** and **List view**. A Site that is not published shows an **Unpublished** badge. In List view, the **Shared with** column says **Anyone with the link** or **Restricted access**.

Each row has a **Share** button and a **More options** menu with **Edit**, **Analytics** and **Settings**. These open the Site's own page: **Edit** and **Settings** open its **Settings** tab and **Analytics** opens its **Analytics** tab. You can have up to 25 Sites. The page shows your count, for example 22/25, once you have 20 or more. When you reach 25, the **Create Site** button is disabled and its tooltip says "You have reached the limit of 25 sites".

## Site settings

Open a Site's page from **Settings** in its row menu. The page has a **Settings** tab and an **Analytics** tab, and an **Edit** button at the top that reopens the Site's chat. The **Settings** tab has these sections.

- **General.** The Site's **Name**, its **URL**, its **Domain** and its **Sharing** setting. Select **Manage** beside **Sharing** to open the share dialog.
- **Custom domains.** Connect a domain you own.
- **Private HTTP services.** Connect an HTTP service that is reachable from your computer or server. Each connection is limited to its configured IP address and port.
- **Environment variables.** Add API keys and other values the site needs.
- **Group access.** Appears on a workspace Site when the workspace has groups, or when you are a workspace owner or admin who owns the Site. See [How do I share and manage Sites in a ZeroTwo Business workspace?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001338-how-do-i-share-and-manage-sites-in-a-zerotwo-business-workspace)
- **Danger zone.** Delete the Site.

### Change the address

The **Domain** field is the first part of the Site's address. Use lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, up to 50 characters. The rest of the address is fixed and shown beside the field. Changing the first part breaks every existing link to the old address, and ZeroTwo tells you when an address is already taken or reserved. Renaming the Site only changes its name, not its address. The **Name** and **Domain** fields save by themselves a moment after you stop typing, and you can change an address up to five times an hour.

### Share a Site

Select **Share** on a row, or **Manage** in **Settings**. The dialog under **Who has access** lets you choose **Only you** or **Anyone with the link**; its button reads **Restricted access** while the Site is not public. The dialog also shows you as the **Owner** and has **Visit** and **Copy link** buttons. **Visit** stays disabled until the Site is published.

To give specific people access, type a viewer's email address and select **Add viewer**. Visitors sign in to ZeroTwo with that email. Adding a viewer saves access, and **Send invitation** emails them the Site link. **Send invitation** works once the Site has a live version and its access is restricted. Only the Site's owner can add or remove viewers.

### Add a custom domain

1. Under **Custom domains**, type the hostname, for example `site.example.com`, and select **Add domain**. Only the Site's owner sees this form.
2. ZeroTwo lists the **CNAME target** and the verification records to add with your DNS provider.
3. Add the records, then select **Check status**. The domain shows **Verification pending** until ownership, certificate and routing checks pass, then **Active**. If the checks fail it shows **Verification failed** and the reason.

Select **Remove** and confirm to stop the domain serving the Site.

### Environment variables

Select **Add variable**, enter a name and a value, and leave **Store as a secret** selected for anything private such as an API key. A saved change takes effect with the next deployment, so ask ZeroTwo to deploy again after you add one.

## Check traffic

The **Analytics** tab shows **Unique visitors** and **Page views** for the last 7 or 30 days, with a **Traffic over time** chart that is hourly for 7 days and daily for 30. The **Top pages** card is on the page but has no data to show yet and reads "No page data yet". If traffic tracking is not turned on, the tab says so. When traffic is very high only a sample is recorded and the tab says the figures are approximate. See [How do I prepare a privacy policy for my ZeroTwo Site?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/20001341-how-do-i-prepare-a-privacy-policy-for-my-zerotwo-site) for what the counts are built from.

## Delete a Site

Under **Danger zone**, select **Delete site** and confirm. This permanently deletes the Site and its published files. The address stops working and cannot be recovered. Deleting your ZeroTwo account also deletes your Sites' published files.

## Other apps

The iPhone, iPad and Android apps also have a Sites page, and **Create Site** there starts a Work chat.
