ZeroTwo reaches Slack and Microsoft Teams through connectors. You sign in to Slack or Microsoft from inside ZeroTwo, and ZeroTwo then looks things up in your Slack or Teams when you ask it to. You add and use the connectors from ZeroTwo itself: from Customize and from the message box.

## Connect either one

1. Select **Customize** in the left rail, then **Connectors**.
2. Find **Slack** or **Microsoft Teams** and select **Connect**.
3. In the window that opens, select **Connect** again and sign in with Slack or Microsoft.

The window also has a "Reference memories and chats." switch and notes titled "Data shared with this app." and "Apps may introduce elevated risk." Read them before you approve.

## What you approve in Slack

Slack signs you in as yourself, using its user sign-in. The permissions ZeroTwo requests are:

- Searching public channels, private channels, files and people (`search:read.public`, `search:read.private`, `search:read.files`, `search:read.users`).
- Reading message history in public channels, private channels, group messages and direct messages (`channels:history`, `groups:history`, `mpim:history`, `im:history`).
- Sending messages (`chat:write`).
- Reading and writing canvases (`canvases:read`, `canvases:write`).
- Reading profiles and email addresses (`users:read`, `users:read.email`).

The Teams permissions are listed in the Teams guide.

## Use them in conversations

In Chat mode ZeroTwo attaches Slack or Teams tools only when your latest message mentions them. Type `@Slack` or `@Teams` in your message, for example "@Slack search for messages about the release". In Work mode ZeroTwo does not need a mention to reach your connected connectors.

## Keep control of what ZeroTwo can do

Open Slack or Teams from the Installed row on the Connectors page. Under **Tool permissions**, tools are grouped as **Read-only tools** and **Write/delete tools**. Because Slack can send messages as you, consider setting its sending tools to **Needs approval**. Work mode then asks before it acts, with choices that include Allow once, Allow for this run and Deny. Regular chat does not ask, so use **Blocked** for any tool you never want used. Blocked hides the tool from ZeroTwo everywhere.

To remove a connection, open the three-dot menu on the connector's page and choose **Disconnect**. If a connector's page shows "Connection issue", select **Connect** to sign in again.
