Card payments in ZeroTwo go through Stripe. A card can be refused when you start or upgrade a plan, when you buy credits, or when you add a card to keep on file. When a card is not accepted, that attempt does not go through and you can try again with another card or payment option. A purchase made with the Apple option in the iPhone or iPad app is charged by Apple instead. This page shows where each payment happens and how to retry.

## Where card payments happen

| What you are paying for | How to get there | What you see |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A new plan or an upgrade | **Settings > Billing > Compare plans**, then **Get Started**. The account menu's **Upgrade Plan** opens the same plan picker. | A checkout page hosted by Stripe; on the web it opens in the same tab |
| Credits (web and desktop) | Account menu > **Buy credits**, or **Settings > Usage > Credits > Add more** | A Stripe checkout shown inside ZeroTwo, where you choose how many credits to buy |
| A card kept on file (web and desktop) | **Settings > Billing > Payment methods > Add new** | An **Add payment method** window |
| A plan in the iPhone or iPad app | The pricing sheet, with the **Apple** option selected | A purchase through the App Store; the charge is made by Apple, not to a card you enter in ZeroTwo |

## Try again with another card or method

- **Plan checkout.** Go back to **Compare plans**, choose **Get Started** again and enter a different card on Stripe's page.
- **Credit checkout.** The window can offer card, Link, Affirm, Klarna and Zip. Stripe hides any option that does not meet the amount or country requirements, so if one method is refused, look for another.
- **Adding a card.** If the card is refused, a message headed "Could not add payment method" appears with the reason Stripe gives. Check the details, or try a different card.

## What a failed payment does to your account

- **Credits.** ZeroTwo adds purchased credits only after the payment completes. When it does, you see "Credits added" and your balance updates.
- **A plan.** If a plan payment fails and the account has no other active plan subscription, ZeroTwo moves the account to the Free plan and Billing shows "Your last payment failed" with an **Update payment method** button. ## Where your card details go

The **Add payment method** window states that cards are stored by Stripe. The **Billing information** details (billing email, name and address) are used for invoices and receipts.
