When Stripe tells ZeroTwo that a payment for your plan failed, ZeroTwo switches the account to the Free plan, clears the credits the plan included, and shows a "Your last payment failed" notice in Billing. The notice asks you to add a working card, and the plan comes back once a payment for it goes through.

## What you will see

On the web and in the desktop app, a warning titled "Subscription ended" appears if the app is open when the plan changes. It says that your plan reverted to Free and that you should update your card. The notice stays in **Settings > Billing** after that, above your plan, with an **Update payment method** button:

> We could not charge your card, so your account is on the Free plan. Add a working card to restore your plan — you will not be charged twice.

The same notice appears in Billing on iPhone and iPad, and in Usage & Billing on Android. While it shows, the plan name at the top of Billing reads **ZeroTwo Free**. In **Transaction history**, the attempt can appear with the status **Open** or **Failed**; select the row to open its invoice.

ZeroTwo updates your plan each time Stripe reports a new status for the subscription, so what Billing shows can change until the payment is settled. Check Billing for the current state.

## What changes on your account

- **Plan.** The account is moved to the Free plan.
- **Monthly credits.** The credits your plan included for the period are cleared.
- **Bonus credits.** The credits in your granted balance, such as the welcome bonus, the daily login bonus and the one-time upgrade bonus, are removed.
- **Purchased credits.** Credits you bought yourself stay in your balance.

## Restore your plan

On the web and in the desktop app:

1. Open **Settings > Billing** and select **Update payment method** in the notice. You can also choose **Add new** under **Payment methods**.
2. Enter the card details in the **Add payment method** window and select **Add card**. The window explains that cards are stored by Stripe and used for plan renewals.
3. If you have several cards saved, open the actions menu (the three dots) beside the one you want and choose **Set as default**. Choose **Remove** to delete a card that keeps failing.

On iPhone, iPad and Android, you cannot add a card inside the app. **Update payment method** opens Stripe's billing page in a browser view instead.

When a payment for the plan goes through, ZeroTwo puts the account back on your plan and clears the failed-payment marker.

## Plans bought through the App Store

Those plans are billed through the App Store, not by a card in ZeroTwo. Billing shows "Billing for this plan is managed through the App Store." and has no card to update. In the iPhone and iPad app, **Manage plan** under **Settings > Usage** opens your Apple subscriptions page.
