The ZeroTwo desktop app for Mac uses the same numbered release notes as the rest of ZeroTwo, and the app checks for updates on its own: it looks for a new version when it starts and every 15 minutes while it is running, then lets you choose when to download and install it.

## Read the release notes

1. At the bottom of the sidebar, or of the icon rail when only the rail is showing, click the question-mark button, **Help and what's new**.
2. Under **What's new**, pick one of the recent releases listed, or choose **Full changelog**. Either one opens the **Changelog** panel, which lists the notes for every release up to your version and scrolls to the one you picked.

The list follows the version of the app you have installed. To read the notes without opening the app, go to [zerotwo.ai/changelog](https://zerotwo.ai/changelog). [Where to find ZeroTwo release notes](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/6825453-where-to-find-zerotwo-release-notes) covers both in more detail.

## Update the Mac app

1. When a newer version is found, a round download button appears beside the **Help and what's new** button. Its tooltip reads "Download update". Click it.
2. While the update downloads, the button shows the percentage, as in "Downloading update: 42%".
3. When the download finishes, the tooltip changes to "Restart to install". Click it, and ZeroTwo restarts into the new version.
4. If a download fails, the tooltip reads "Retry update download". Click it to try again.

To check right away, choose **Check for Updates…** from the **ZeroTwo** menu in the menu bar; if a newer version is found, the same button appears. ZeroTwo does not download an update until you ask for it.
