When ZeroTwo shows "The provider's safety filter blocked this response. Try rephrasing your message, or pick a different model.", the safety filter of the AI provider behind the model you chose has stopped the request or its reply. Because the filter belongs to the provider, rewording the message or switching to a model from another provider can give a different result.

## Which messages mean a safety filter stopped the reply?

| Message | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| The provider's safety filter blocked this response. Try rephrasing your message, or pick a different model. | A provider's safety check refused the request or its response. ZeroTwo shows this as an error in the chat. |
| Your request was blocked by the model's safety filter. Try rephrasing. | The model ended its turn with a content-filter reason and no reply, so ZeroTwo shows this note as the reply. |
| The model's response was filtered as potential recitation of copyrighted content. Try a different phrasing. | The model finished normally and used output tokens but returned no text. ZeroTwo reports this as a possible recitation filter and shows the note as the reply. |

## What can I do?

1. **Reword your message.** Say what you are trying to achieve in different words, or split the request into smaller parts. For the copyright message, ask for a summary instead of asking the model to reproduce existing text.
2. **Pick a different model.** Open the model selector, which shows the name of the current model, choose a model from another provider and send the message again.
3. **Check the error details.** In the web and desktop apps, the first message above appears in an error box with a **Report** button. The box can also have **Details** and **Retry** buttons. **Details** shows the technical error, the error code, the provider and the model.

For the other messages ZeroTwo can show in a chat, see [What do ZeroTwo error messages mean, and how do I fix them?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/7996703-what-do-zerotwo-error-messages-mean-and-how-do-i-fix-them)

## What about images?

Image generation and image editing can be refused in a similar way. When fal, one of ZeroTwo's image providers, rejects a prompt in its moderation, ZeroTwo treats the request as blocked by the provider's safety filter. Reword the prompt and try again.

## Do ZeroTwo's own rules apply too?

Yes. Section 8 of the [Terms and Conditions](https://zerotwo.ai/terms) is the Acceptable Use Policy. It says you may not use ZeroTwo to create content that depicts minors in a mature or sexualized context, to harm yourself or others, to compromise other people's privacy, or to circumvent usage limits, among other things. The Terms say violations can lead to suspension or termination of your account. ## What if I think the block was a mistake?

Select **Report** on the error to send its details to ZeroTwo, or on the web or desktop app select the question-mark button (**Help and what's new**) in the sidebar footer and choose **Help** > **Send Feedback**. If the message instead begins "Blocked before reaching ZeroTwo", see [Why does ZeroTwo say I've been blocked?](https://help.zerotwo.ai/en/articles/7967834-why-does-zerotwo-say-ive-been-blocked)
