The Slack connector lets ZeroTwo search your Slack workspace, read channels and threads, send messages and drafts, and work with canvases. ZeroTwo also has a Slack plugin with ready-made skills for channel summaries, daily digests, reply drafts and more.
What ZeroTwo can do with Slack
On its card in Customize > Connectors, the connector is described as "Search messages, send messages, and manage canvases in Slack." ZeroTwo's Slack skill describes the supported actions as:
- reading and searching channels, users, threads and canvases;
- writing messages, drafts, scheduled messages and canvases.
ZeroTwo is told not to claim support for creating channels, editing messages, deleting messages or other Slack admin actions.
When you connect, ZeroTwo asks Slack for permission to: search in public channels, private channels, files and users; read history in public channels, private channels, group messages and direct messages; send messages; read and write canvases; and read user profiles and email addresses.
Connect Slack
- Open Customize in the rail and select Connectors. Use Search connectors to find Slack.
- Select Connect on Slack. The first time, a dialog titled "Use Slack in ZeroTwo" opens. It has a switch labeled "Reference memories and chats", which controls whether ZeroTwo may reference relevant chats and memories when sharing data with Slack. Select Connect.
- Sign in to Slack in the window that opens and approve the access. On the web, allow pop-ups for ZeroTwo; in the desktop app the sign-in opens in your system browser.
The notes that ship with the Slack plugin say your workspace administrator must approve MCP integration before you can use it. If Slack refuses the connection, ask your admin. If the connection later expires, see Fix connector and plugin problems in ZeroTwo.
Use Slack in a chat
Ask for what you need in plain words, for example:
- "Search Slack for messages about the release"
- "Send a message to #general"
- "Find messages from last week"
How ZeroTwo reaches Slack depends on the mode you are in:
- In Work, ZeroTwo can use Slack once it is connected and switched on, without you naming it.
- In Chat, ZeroTwo decides from your message whether it needs tools. If it does not use Slack, mention it with @ followed by its name, for example
@Slack. A message with an @ mention is handled as a run that can use tools.
A few more things to know:
- Say "draft" if you want to review first. If you ask ZeroTwo to send, post or reply, it follows that and does not downgrade the request to a draft. If you ask for a draft, it makes a draft.
- Expect a heads-up on broad mentions. ZeroTwo's Slack skill treats @channel, @here, mass mentions and customer-facing channels as high-impact and is told to call them out before posting.
- Control what it may do. Open Slack under Customize > Connectors to see its tools split into Read-only tools and Write/delete tools. Set each tool, or a whole group, to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. Setting the tools that post to Needs approval makes ZeroTwo ask before sending.
The Slack plugin
Search for Slack under Customize > Plugins and, if it is listed, select Install. When a plugin needs just one outside service, ZeroTwo opens that service's connect dialog right after installing. The Slack plugin is described as "Read Slack channels and draft messages in ZeroTwo," and it brings eight skills:

You do not have to pick a skill. Each one describes when it applies, and the plugin suggests prompts such as "Draft a status update message for #launch-war-room" and "Find the latest Slack thread about the billing outage".
If Slack results are missing
- ZeroTwo's Slack skill says missing messages may mean Slack access is unavailable, the workspace is disconnected, or the wrong channel or thread is in scope. Reconnect Slack and name the channel you mean.
- Slack applies per-minute request limits to its search, read and write tools. The Slack skill tells ZeroTwo to wait and retry when Slack answers with a rate-limit error, and to explain the limit and return what it has if it still cannot finish. If that happens, wait a little and ask again.
