If ZeroTwo shows "SMS sign-in is not available for this destination. Use email or another sign-in method.", it could not text a sign-in code to the country or region of that phone number. The message is about text delivery for that destination. Signing in with Google, Apple, Microsoft or an email link does not use text messages, so it is not affected.
What to do
- Go back to the sign-in options. While the phone fields are open, the phone button reads Continue with email on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android; select it to switch back.
- Choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple or Continue with Microsoft, or enter your email address and select Continue to get a sign-in link.
A new email address opens a new account ("New to ZeroTwo? Your account will be created automatically when you click the magic link."), so use an address you already sign in with if you want to reach an existing account. If you cannot sign in any other way, write to reed@zerotwo.ai, the contact address on ZeroTwo's Terms page.
What each app says
- Web and Android: "SMS sign-in is not available for this destination. Use email or another sign-in method."
- iPhone and iPad: "SMS sign-in is unavailable for this destination. Continue with email or another sign-in method."
ZeroTwo shows this message when its text-message service reports that sending to the destination is not permitted. The apps do not list which destinations that covers, so you find out when sending the code fails.
Entering the number and country
A different message means the number itself was rejected: "Check your country code and phone number, then try again." on the web and Android, and "Check your phone number and country code, then try again." on iPhone and iPad. Check what you typed first. The way you enter the country depends on where you sign in: the web has a Country menu with a fixed list of countries, Android lets you type any country code, and the iPhone and iPad app uses +1 only. What does signing in with a phone number look like? walks through each screen.
