You can download your ZeroTwo chats as one JSON file. ZeroTwo builds the file inside the app when you select Export, so there is no request to submit and no link to wait for.
Export on the web or desktop app
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Settings.
- Open the Data Controls tab.
- On the Export data row, select Export. The button reads "Exporting..." while ZeroTwo gathers your chats.
- When it finishes, ZeroTwo saves a file named
zerotwo-chat-export-YYYY-MM-DD.json, where the date is the date of the export. An alert tells you how many threads and messages it contains.
After an export, the row shows "Last export:" with the date and time of the most recent one.
If you have no conversations yet, ZeroTwo says "No data to export. Start a conversation first!" and does not create a file. If the export fails, an alert shows the error, or "Failed to export data. Please try again."
Export on iPhone and iPad
Open Settings, go to Data controls and tap Export data. When the file is ready, the iOS share sheet opens with zerotwo-export-YYYY-MM-DD.json, so you can save it to Files or send it to another app. The row's footer reads "Download a copy of your data as JSON." and, after an export, shows the date of your last one.
Export on Android
Open Settings, go to Data controls and select Export on the Export data row. ZeroTwo saves zerotwo-export.json to your Downloads folder and shows "Saved to Downloads". If saving fails, it shows "Failed to save export".
What is in the file
The file is plain JSON. It includes:
- the export date and a format version;
- your account details: your user ID, email address, profile name and avatar link;
- the total number of chats and messages;
- every chat, with its ID, title, created and updated dates and metadata;
- every message in each chat, in order, with its ID, role, text, created date, metadata, model, provider, usage figures and attachment details.
What you can do with it
- Keep it as a backup of your conversations before you delete your account or clear your data.
- Open it in any text editor or JSON viewer.
- Attach it to a chat to have ZeroTwo read it. See Can I move my chats to another ZeroTwo account?
