Data Controls is the page in Settings where you manage the data ZeroTwo stores for you. From there you can download a copy of your chats, restore or delete archived chats, delete your conversations or everything in your account, remove shared links, and delete your account.
Open Data Controls
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the account menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Open the Data Controls tab. The page heading reads "Data controls".
On the web, Settings opens as a dialog over your chat. In the desktop app, Settings opens as a full page.
What each row does
| Row | Button | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Export data | Export | Downloads a copy of your data. After an export, the row shows the date of your last one. |
| Archived chats | Manage | Restore archived conversations or delete them permanently. |
| Delete all chats | Delete all chats | Permanently deletes all conversations, meaning threads and messages only. |
| Clear all data | Clear all data | Permanently deletes all your data: chats, assistants, projects, files and more. |
| Shared Links | Manage | Lists the chats, posts, images and files you have shared, so you can delete their links. |
| Delete account | Sign out and Delete account | Signs you out, or permanently deletes your account and all of its data. |
Export your data
Choose Export to save your chats as a JSON file you can keep or move elsewhere. The steps, the file name and what the file contains are in How to export your ZeroTwo chats.
Archive a chat, then restore or delete it
Archiving takes a chat out of your chat list without deleting it. Open the menu on a chat's row in the sidebar and choose Archive.
To work with archived chats, choose Manage on the Archived chats row. The list shows each chat's title and the date you archived it, with two actions:
- Restore puts the chat back in its original location.
- The trash button asks "Permanently delete this chat?" and, once you confirm with Delete permanently, removes the chat and all of its messages. This cannot be undone.
In the desktop app, Manage opens the Archived tasks page in Settings instead of a dialog.
Delete all chats, or clear all data
The two red buttons differ in how much they remove, and both ask you to confirm first.
- Delete all chats opens "Delete all chats?" The dialog says it deletes only your conversations and that your assistants, projects, files and other data stay intact. Confirm with Yes, delete all chats.
- Clear all data opens "Clear all data?" with a warning that it deletes everything, including chats, assistants, projects, files, scheduled tasks, MCP integrations and research, and that it cannot be undone. Confirm with Yes, clear all data.
When either one finishes, ZeroTwo shows a message with the counts it deleted and opens a new chat. For Delete all chats that is the number of threads and messages; for Clear all data it also lists projects, scheduled tasks and integrations. Neither button deletes your account; to remove the account itself, use Delete account.
Manage shared links
Choose Manage on the Shared Links row to open the Shared links dialog. It lists everything you have shared with a link, with each item's name, its type (Chat, Image, File or Post) and the date it was shared. Selecting a name opens the shared page in a new tab.
- Use the trash button on a row to delete that one link.
- Use Delete all shared links to remove every link at once. You confirm in a dialog titled "Delete all shared links?"
Anyone with a shared link can view what it points to. Deleting the link stops others from viewing it, and your original chat, image or file is not deleted.
Delete your account
The Delete account row removes your account along with its data, and it cannot be undone. Read How do I delete my ZeroTwo account? first, because deleting also ends a subscription billed through ZeroTwo.
ZeroTwo for iOS and Android
The iOS and Android apps have a Data controls screen with the same six items: Export data, Archived chats, Delete all chats, Clear all data, Shared links and Delete account.
