The Mac app signs in to the same account as ZeroTwo on the web, so the same retention rules apply. Your chats and other content are stored in that account, not only on your Mac. A few desktop features also keep data on the computer itself. This article covers both and how to delete each.
Chats and other account content
ZeroTwo's Privacy Policy says it keeps content you store in ZeroTwo until you delete it, your workspace is deleted, or it has to be kept for security, fraud prevention, backups or legal reasons. If you delete your account or ask for your data to be deleted, it says personal information is deleted or anonymized from active systems when reasonably practicable, with the same exceptions, and that backup copies can persist for a limited period before they are overwritten.
You can delete content yourself at several levels:
- One chat. Choose Delete from the chat's menu and confirm the Delete chat? prompt. The chat and its messages are deleted permanently and cannot be recovered.
- Archived chats. In Settings > Data Controls, the Archived chats row has a Manage button. In the Mac app it opens the Archived tasks page, described below.
- All chats. Delete all chats on the Data Controls page removes your conversations only. Your assistants, projects and files stay.
- Everything. Clear all data permanently deletes your chats, assistants, projects, files, scheduled tasks, MCP integrations, research and all other data.
- Your account. Delete account permanently deletes your account and removes your data from ZeroTwo's servers.
Before you delete, use the Export data row on the same page. Its Export button downloads a copy of your chats as a JSON file. Shared Links lists everything you have shared; deleting a link stops others viewing it but keeps the original.
What is stored on this Mac
These items are kept on the computer, so deleting your chats does not remove them:
- Computer history (macOS only). This is off until you turn it on and agree to the prompt. When it is on, ZeroTwo keeps a private local record of eligible app and website activity, including mouse clicks, typed text, window titles, URLs and accessibility content of windows you use, and sends eligible event evidence to ZeroTwo's authenticated AI service to write 10-minute and 6-hour memory summaries. The prompt says the event records stay on this Mac under
~/.zerotwo/computer-historyand the summaries live under~/.zerotwo/memories/extensions/skysight/resources. Private browsing is never recorded. In Settings > Computer history, use Clear history to delete the Last hour, Today or All history. Clearing all history permanently deletes the saved event segments and summaries, and capture continues if the feature stays on. You can also pause it or switch it off on that page. - Local memory. Settings > Personalization > Memory has a Local memory row for the memory that Work and Code keep on this computer. It follows the Memory switch. Delete and turn off memory, in Manage memories, deletes your saved memories, including the memory stored on this computer, turns memory off and keeps your chats.
- Dictation recordings. Under Settings > Voice, the Recent recordings row says your last 20 recordings are saved on this device. On the Mac app they are kept under
~/.zerotwo/dictation-history. Each recording has a button that deletes it. - In-app browser data. Settings > Browser has a Clear browsing data button, which clears the built-in browser's history, site data, cache and download history.
- Archived tasks. Settings > Archived tasks lists local archives and cloud archives, and you can filter by All tasks, Local or Cloud. Local archives are stored on this Mac under
~/.zerotwo/archived_sessions. Unarchive restores either kind. The trash button on a local archive deletes it permanently, and Delete all removes every local archive. Deleting local archives does not affect the cloud ones, and cloud archives cannot be deleted from this page.
AI providers and training
To answer you, ZeroTwo may send your content to the model provider you chose. The Privacy Policy says most providers process it only to return a response, but some may keep or use it under their own terms. There is no setting in Data Controls about model training, so read the Privacy Policy at zerotwo.ai/privacy for how content is used and shared. The wider data options are in Data Controls.
