How do I avoid paying for ZeroTwo twice?

Plans bought with a card and plans bought through the App Store are billed separately. Check your plan first and cancel where you subscribed.

Updated: 20 hours ago

ZeroTwo has two separate ways to pay for a plan, and starting one does not cancel the other. The plan screens mark your current plan and block lower plans, but buying a higher plan through the other route can leave you with two subscriptions. Check your plan before you subscribe, and cancel the one you no longer want in the place where you bought it.

How each route is billed

Where you subscribeBilled byWhere you cancel
Web app and desktop appCard, through StripeSettings, Billing, Cancel plan
Android appCard, through StripeSettings, Usage & Billing, Cancel plan
iPhone or iPad, Card optionCard, through StripeSettings, Billing, Cancel plan
iPhone or iPad, Apple optionThe App StoreApple's subscription page, which Settings, Usage, Manage plan opens

On Android, plans are paid by card inside ZeroTwo; the app has no Google Play subscription.

Before you subscribe

  1. Open Settings, then Billing (on Android, Usage & Billing). The plan name and a line such as Your plan auto-renews on a date tell you whether you already pay.
  2. Look at how it is billed. A plan billed by Apple shows Billing for this plan is managed through the App Store. A card plan shows Billing information, Payment methods and Cancel plan.
  3. Remember that a plan belongs to your account, not to a device. Sign in to the same account on each device and you get the same plan, so there is no need to subscribe again there.

The plan comparison also helps: on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android it labels your plan Your Current Plan and shows Not Available on lower plans. Only higher plans offer a subscribe button.

Switching between Apple and card billing

Cancel in the place where you subscribed, and subscribe the other way only after the first plan has ended. A card plan that you cancel keeps working until the end of the current billing period and then moves to Free. If you subscribe the other way sooner, you pay for both during the overlap.

If you were charged twice

  1. Open Transaction history in Billing to see the payments made through Stripe. Payments made through Apple are not listed there.
  2. Cancel the subscription you do not want. Cancel plan acts on the subscription that ZeroTwo has recorded for your account, so if you think another one is still active, contact support with the dates and amounts.
  3. Ask about a refund. If one of the charges was a card payment to ZeroTwo, ZeroTwo's Refund Policy names one duplicate-charge case: a verifiable duplicate charge for the exact same plan on the same account on the same day, with no usage against the duplicate. Email reed@zerotwo.ai within 14 days of the charge with your account email and the transaction details. See how to request a refund.
