Why can't I get back into an account I deleted?

Deleting a ZeroTwo account from Settings is permanent. See what it removes, what you see if you sign in again, and where to ask for help.

Updated: 20 hours ago

Deleting a ZeroTwo account from Settings is permanent. The delete window warns that the action cannot be undone, and Settings has no option for restoring an account afterwards. If you sign in again with the same email address or phone number, ZeroTwo treats you as a new user and starts a new account.

What deleting an account does

  • You start it from Settings > Data Controls > Delete account on the web and the desktop app, or from Delete account in the Data controls settings on iPhone, iPad and Android. You can also delete the account from the web version of ZeroTwo.
  • On the web, ZeroTwo also tries to cancel any subscription paid by card as part of the deletion, but a failed cancel does not stop the deletion. To be sure a card plan stops renewing, cancel it first (see How do I cancel my ZeroTwo subscription?) and check that Settings > Billing says "Your plan ends on" before you delete. A plan bought through the App Store is managed through the App Store, so cancel that one there.
  • Your chats, projects, files, scheduled tasks, integrations, saved memories and published Sites are deleted, along with your credit balance and your sign-in.
  • Deleting does not refund the current billing period. The refund policy says the same.

What you see if you sign in again

New and returning people use the same sign-in screen. After you enter the email you used before, the "Check your email" screen says that if you are new to ZeroTwo, your account will be created automatically when you click the link. After a deletion you are new: the account that opens is empty, with no chats, files or paid plan. Can I create a new ZeroTwo account after deleting mine? has the full walkthrough.

If you did not delete it yourself

There is no restore option in Settings or on the sign-in screen. If you think someone else deleted your account, read How do I contact ZeroTwo support? In-app Support needs a signed-in account, so it is not available for one that has been deleted.

To make it harder for someone else to sign in to an account you still use, turn on two-factor authentication under Settings > Security.

Deleting an account you cannot sign in to

Use the request form at zerotwo.ai/delete-account, which is also linked as Delete account in the footer of zerotwo.ai. Enter your email address, add a note if you like, and choose Send deletion request. The page says ZeroTwo will process the request and confirm by email. To delete an account you can still open, see How do I delete my ZeroTwo account?
